Marcus Rempel
MMFT
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY, COUPLES THERAPY, FAMILY THERAPY
Marcus holds a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy (MMFT), as well as Bachelor's degrees in theology and occupational therapy. He is a certified Circle of Security Parenting facilitator and has special interests in couple's counselling and land-based healing.
Marcus has a passion for Emotionally Focused Therapy, an attachment-based approach. As Dr. Johnson says, “We must recognize that we are more than ‘Homo sapiens’. We are ‘homo vinculum’ - the one who bonds with others. And these bonds are what will save us. They always have.” This relational philosophy meshes well with the "All My Relations" worldview that Marcus has learned from Indigenous elders. Since 2018, Marcus has served as Team Leader of Return of the Buffalo, an Indigenous Family Wellness Initiative at Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre.
Whether exploring conflict, or love, or music, or ideas, or spirituality, or the great outdoors, Marcus has a passion for making connections that heal and tie into other connections. Everything is connected to everything else--sometimes well, sometimes not so well. The quest of finding connections "in a good way" is the adventure the Cree call Mino Pimatissiwin - the good way of living. Finding that way with others is what Marcus wants to be about, whatever he is up to.
