Psychoeducational Sessions

Through our public workshops and events, we're happy to bring our expertise directly to you. We are able to provide trainings on-site and virtually to suit the specific needs of your group or organization.

  • This workshop encompasses a variety of disability specific areas including, brain-based behaviour basics, parenting the adolescent with FASD, generalized strategies and approaches and areas specific to raising adolescents: school challenges, social media, home, emotional regulation and building resiliency.

    Note: Presentations can be adapted to include generalized information on Neurodevelopmental Disorders as well.

  • This workshop explores some of the realities that neurodivergent individuals experience in day-to-day life. Topics of this workshop include understanding neurodiversity, common strategies for assisting someone with a brain-difference, advocacy and supporting self-advocacy, finding identity as a neurodivergent person, vulnerabilities that neurodivergent populations may experience, and strategies surrounding shifting paradigms when supporting individuals with brain-differences.

  • A look at attachment theory and raising children and adolescents with FASD. A certified Circle of Security facilitator will speak to parenting and attachment strategies, understanding behaviours as communicative, and how to repair when issues arise. (This content may also need to be broke down into 2 sessions, given the substantial amount of information.)

    Note: Presentations can be adapted to include generalized information on Neurodevelopmental Disorders as well.

  • An introduction into the world of relationships, sexuality, and sex when working with individuals with FASD. Topics and strategies focus on age and stage appropriate behaviors, relationships, vulnerabilities, online relationships and risks, dignity focused conversations on supporting adolescents and adults in building healthy and safe relationships.

  • This in-depth series narrows in on some of the more complex and less-discussed topics surrounding neurodevelopmental disabilities, sex, relationships and sexuality. Topics include using a dignity-promoting, neurodivergent lens while navigating puberty, masturbation, pornography, alternative types of intimate relationships including polyamory and ethical non-monogamy, kinks, fetishes, grooming, and sexualized violence, including sexual exploitation and sexual assault.  

    *Attendees are encouraged to have taken An Introduction to FASD, Relationships, Sex, and Sexuality prior to registering for this workshop.

  • This workshop allows parents, teachers and service providers to explore how to assist individuals with FASD or other Neurodevelopmental Disorders in navigating their brain-differences. This half-day workshop will provide opportunities for exploration around walking alongside neurodivergent individuals who are on a journey of understanding what it means to be neurodivergent and how to explain this to others.

  • A look at discussing consent and navigating relationships at different ages and stages, from toddlers to the golden years. The workshop will include strategies, interactive problem-solving of real-life scenarios, and ways to incorporate multiple methods to ensure that all individuals can understand consent and have opportunities for healthy ongoing relationships.

  • Transitions can be challenging for individuals who are neurodiverse, including body changes. This training is for parents, caregivers, teachers and service providers to assist children and youth to understand what is going on in their body during puberty, and what this means for them.

  • The Internationally certified Circle of Security-Parenting™ Program is used around the world with caregivers and focuses on helping caregivers to learn about children’s attachment needs and to also get to practice using the Circle to identify those attachment needs. In addition, when caregivers identify where on the Circle they struggle to meet their children’s needs, they can begin to work to address their children’s unmet needs more often on the Circle.

    This is an 8-week series of 2-hour sessions as per the Internationally offered modules.

  • An in-depth look at the transition into adulthood with a focus on assessment, CLDS, inter-dependence programming, planning for the transition out of CFS/CDS, and application processes.

  • A rights and dignity focused look at the VPA and how this impacts our adult children and us as the caregivers of adults.

  • A three-part series that includes empathy building, emotional literacy, and communication building through activities that are meant to be fun and include an educational component. Participate is encouraged to youth to share their thoughts and feelings, while also gently pushing them out of their comfort zone if appropriate.

  • Nobody’s Perfect™ is a Canada-wide facilitated parenting program for parents of children from birth to age five. The program is designed to meet the needs of parents who are young, single, socially or geographically isolated, or who have low income or limited formal education offered in communities by facilitators to help support parents and young children.

  • A series of sessions focused on building self awareness, mindfulness, and coping skills for the management of anger. Sessions include topics such as finding connections, building trust, diving deeper into learning about anger, communication styles and conflict, de-escalation, and building mindfulness skills for coping.
